Driving cycles are produced for describing the characteristics of a specific vehicle under certain traffic environment. Heavy duty truck and HEV(hybrid electrical vehicle) are obviously influenced by road grade and a driving cycle with road grade is necessary for studying on them. This article collected heavy duty truck driving data in motorway. Then expound the Markov property of driving data form phase space and correlation coefficient under the condition of state space defined by velocity, acceleration and road grade. At last a three parameters Markov chain model is constructed and used to design a driving cycle with synchronized velocity and road grade.
