摘要

Diffusion bonding is a solid-state welding technique to join metallic and non-metallic materials. Due to geometrical considerations, fabrication and possible materials choices diffusion bonding was chosen at the University of California in Berkeley for tube-to-tube sheet joints of large coil tube gas heaters for fluoride-salt-cooled high-temperature reactors. Three methods: (1) press fitting and diffusion bonding, (2) tube expansion and diffusion bonding and (3) hybrid friction diffusion bonding were found to fulfill the engineering requirement: tube rupture during mechanical pull-out testing. This work provides a brief overview on test sample fabrication.
