摘要

With their complex geographical and environmental conditions,seamounts provide habitats to unique benthic fauna. Extensive data onthese benthos, however, has yet to be collected, especially scientificfindings on their detailed distributions, diversities and abundance.Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC) therefore,surveyed the distribution of megabenthos inhabiting Northwest Pacificseamounts. Specifically, line-transect surveys were conducted in fourseamounts using a towed video camera to understand their distributionsand characteristics. In this paper, we report about those research results.
