Jack-up rig installation is often faced with potential punch-throughproblems, which could produce fatalities on the legs or jackingsystems.Thus it is essential to perform installation safety assessmenton site specifically before deployment. This paper proposes a punchthroughprediction method for spudcan penetration in multi-layered soilsystem. Limit penetration depth of jack-up spudcan is analysed basedon finite element method for leg structure strength. The more improvedpunch-through analysis process is discussed. Finaly, The accuracy ofthe method is verified by the analysis of the actual process. Potentialpunch-through is reasonably predicted.
