摘要

Recent scholarship focuses on increased understanding of wearables and embodied technology within rhetoric, composition, and communication design. This presentation argues for the need to build interdisciplinary capacity for studying how wearables and embodied computing experience inform professional and technical communication. Ann Hill Duin reports on how this team of interdisciplinary scholars from Art (A), Asian Studies (AS), Design (D), Education (E), Mechanical Engineering (ME), and Technical Communication (TC) have begun to explore the future of wearables and embodied computing. Drawing on Porter’s theoretical framework for digital delivery, she shares divergent disciplinary views gathered from collaborator scholarship and discussion to date, noting lessons learned and suggestions for future interdisciplinary collaboration.
