Software-defined Networking (SDN) emerges as an advanced solution to the challenges of cellular networks including growing traffic and the demand for combining different radio access technologies together. However, managing a huge number of network switches through single central SDN controller limits the efficiency of SDN based network. In this work, we provide a multi-layer SDN based architecture for multi-interface mobile users connected to loosely-coupled LTE/WiFi network. The proposed layered control plane is expected to share the burden of control activities and with Device-to-Device (D2D) communication and multiple interfaces support, efficient data delivery to end users can be made possible.
