Fractal antenna arrays are one of the feasible antenna technologies for the future wireless communications such as 5G technology and advanced ad-hoc networks. Owing to the recursive nature, these arrays exhibit better array factor properties. This review paper depicts from nature of the fractal to advanced fractal antenna array concepts. This review basically focused on the design methodologies and the evolutionary algorithms for the generation of fractal array antennas.
