A large amount of land is occupied because of the new urbanization which makes great difference to farmers' life. However, there are some problems in the constitution and related laws in China, such as unclear concept definitions and unreasonable compensation standards. In addition, land acquisition and demolition projects tend to focus more on short-term compensation while long-term guarantees for farmers deprived of land are neglected. The issue of compensation for land acquisition and demolition involves the balance of interests among the relevant stakeholders, including the government, farmers, and enterprises and so on. A sound and effective compensation mechanism for land acquisition and demolition can correctly guide the steady progress of land acquisition and demolition work. Nowadays, relevant researches focus on the improvement of policy system and the game among various stakeholders. This paper combs and summarizes China's compensation policies for land acquisition and demolition, then compares, analyzes, and summarizes some domestic and foreign literature on compensation policies for land acquisition and demolition, and summarizes the existing problems of China's compensation policies for land acquisition and demolition, as well as the improvement measures proposed by various scholars.
