Self-adaptation and self-organisation (SASO) have been introduced to technical systems as a response to the ever increasing complexity and interconnectedness of component systems. The basic idea is to react to environmental dynamics and disturbances by re-configuring the productive behaviour and/or the relations to other systems. In this paper, we assume that too frequent and too strong adaptation behaviour is not desirable – in turn, we have to determine a trade-off between stability and optimal utility. This is assumed to result in a kind of selfawareness for the overall SASO system. Therefore, we describe a first concept to measure stability and analyse the behaviour in two example scenarios.
