Investigation of the performance of rudder bulb-fins system (RBFS) andcomparison with conventional rudder in different head wave conditionswere carried out. The prediction of self-propulsion factors and flow filedparameters of KRISO Very Larger Crude Carrier (KVLCC2) of lengthbetween perpendiculars (Lpp) 3.2m with Froude number of 0.142 andtwo degree of freedom (heave and pitch) conditions in regular headwaves had been done by using numerical simulation of CFDSHIPIOWAV4.5. From these simulations, RBFS does not have unacceptableeffect in waves and can produce additional thrust. It can reduce resistanceas well.
