A numerical investigation is performed to understand effects of flow control using a coaxial typedielectric barrier discharge plasma actuator (DBD-PA) on circular disk flow and drag force acting on the disk.The disk is placed on perpendicular to the freestream and the coaxial type DBD-PA is installed on the upstreamside of the disk surface. Mechanisms of drag reduction due to flow control of the coaxial type DBD-PA arediscussed at Reynolds numbers of 5000 and 10000. The maximum drag reduction is about 3%. From controlledflow structures near the disk, the effective aerodynamic shapes are certainly changed. Those results supportapplicability of flow morphing control for other geometries.
