Sleep is already known as a mechanism that consisted of specific human physiological aspects and still preserved a lot of questions. Therefore, to understand other phenomena during sleep, various investigations need to be done. Short sleep during sedated was being used commonly in pediatrics EEG, however, the investigation of EEG features during this recording still limited to carry out. EEG on small children considered as one of the most challenging procedure. This study presents a single subject investigation between two siblings, small children with brain abnormalities and typically developed to obtain valuable brain activity information during short sleep condition induced by chloral hydrate sedation. The main purpose was to observe whether there were similarities of EEG features between sedated and normal sleep condition or not. The results showed that NREM 3 stage elicited on both groups brain activity according to delta powers domination and sleep spindles feature occurrences during this condition. This study concluded that EEG recording during chloral hydrate-induced sedation might be a better solution to observe NREM 3 sleep stage in a short time period, especially for small children and uncooperative participants. As a preliminary study, this proposed study showed the possibility to observe the two groups as well.
