摘要

Squeeze casting characterized by gentle die filling andsolidification under high pressure is recognized one of thepotential processes for the production of thick-walled parts thatare amendable for heat treatment to enhance mechanicalproperties of magnesium alloys. In this study, squeeze castingexperiments under different applied pressures were carried out forAZ91D magnesium alloy and the temperature variations atdifferent locations in the casting were measured during thesolidification process. The microstructure morphology wasobserved by using OM. The grain size and mechanical property ofthe casting were determined. The effects of pressure on thecooling curves, microstructure and mechanical property werediscussed.
