The shielding performance of a finite extension planar shieldagainst low frequency magnetic fields is investigated. The magneticfield is assumed to be generated by power frequency currents flowinginto wire conductors and is calculated by analytical and numericaltechniques, taking into account the magnetic flux leakage in the airaround the shield edges and the magnetic field diffusion inside theconductive shield barrier. The calculations are compared withexperimental results in simple test configurations to validate theanalytical and the numerical prediction tools
