摘要

The concept of Friction Stir Welding (FSW) technique was invented two decades ago, but its utilization has been restricted to low strength material because of the problems of tool wear, weld efficiency and sufficient heat required during the joining process in case of high strength material. Many secondary heat sources have been used for the addition of the heat to the joining process. In this paper, the study of the use of secondary heat sources to Friction Stir Welding has been used to join the high strength material like Mild Steel and Stainless Steel. Both MS and SS material have been joined with each other like MS to MS and MS to SS and the test sample has been tested and analyzed for the characterization of the material joined. The analysis has been done to resolve the problems rose during the joining of the high strength material and focused on the study on increase of the weld efficiency. Special focus on the variation of UTS and hardness has been done to find the effect of an addition of a secondary source of electric current on FSW for joining MS and SS material.
