Investigations on the Emission Characteristics of China VI Gasoline Passenger Cars

To reduce vehicle emissions and control air pollution, China adopted CHINA VI emission standard in 2016, which is one of the most stringent emission standards in the world. In this paper, the emission characteristics of a total of 152 China VI gasoline passenger cars have been investigated in order to understand the present situation of the emission level. Results showed that considering the CHINA VIa limits, the passing rate of A-class passenger cars was higher, while that of B-class was higher. In addition, the influence of the engine types, vehicle models and origin countries on the emission characteristics is also discussed. For both A-class and B-class gasoline passenger cars, CO emissions of vehicles with T engines (Turbocharger engines) were lower, however PN and PM emissions were higher, compared to NA engines (Naturally aspirated engines). NOx, PN and PM emissions were lower for sedan compared to SUV. THC, PN and PM emissions of own independent brand vehicles need to be improved. The qualified rates of Japanese and Korean brand vehicles were the highest, whether it was CHINA VIa or CHINA VIb limits.
