Intelligent optimization algorithms (IOA) are widely used in all walks of life, education industry is no exception. The global epidemic in 2020 has led to the adoption of online teaching in schools at all levels. With the help of intelligent optimization algorithm, the online teaching is gradually optimized, and the factors affecting the teaching quality are reconfigured to reach the optimal level. Therefore, intelligent optimization algorithm is of great significance to improve the quality of online teaching. According to the two factors of school factor and student factor, the model of intelligent optimization algorithm is built and applied. Through questionnaire survey and model, it is concluded that online teaching quality is optimized in teaching resources, teaching conditions, teaching methods, teaching organization and students' independent learning. After learning online, students think that online teaching effect is higher, the online teaching method is better, the online learning effect is higher. Therefore, optimizing online teaching through intelligent optimization algorithm improves the quality of online teaching to a certain extent and promotes the development of education.
