The large-scale integration of new energy into the grid has introduced a large number of interharmonic and harmonic signals to the grid. The traditional PMU can only realize the fundamental phasor measurement of the power frequency signal, and cannot realize the measurement of interharmonic and harmonic. The improved PMU device and the newly developed wide-frequency measurement device can realize the monitoring of interharmonics in the sub-synchronous oscillation frequency band, but the existing protocol cannot support the transmission of the monitoring results. This paper analyzes the measurement and transmission requirements of power grid wide-frequency signals, takes the analysis of wide-frequency data and presents the method that expanding the PMU protocol to realize the transmission of wide-frequency measurement data. The time-division transmission scheme based on power frequency frame and the inter-harmonic/harmonic expansion transmission scheme are presented, the realization mechanism of the two schemes are discussed, the respective characteristics of the two schemes are compared, which can provide guidance and reference for engineering application.
