Wide Azimuth Beam Coverage Three-Beam 4×4 MIMO Base Station Antenna

This paper presents the design and implementation of low-profile slant 45° dual-polarized 4×4 MIMO three-beam base station antenna at the frequency band of 2.3-2.7 GHz. By reducing the azimuth spacing and increasing the row number of the antenna array, a high gain three-beam antenna with wide azimuth beam coverage (i.e., 120° 10dB beam-width) is realized. Through arranging two three-beam arrays side-by-side, a 4×4 MIMO three-beam antenna are designed and tested. Detailed array architecture and the corresponding measurement results of the proposed multibeam antenna are given.
