The effect of thiourea on the synthesis of protein and lipid in the azuki bean weevil, Callosobruchus maculatus has been determined. Weevils treated with thiourea at 0.5 and 1.0 percent concentration showed a decrease in total quantity of protein. At 1.0 percent concentration of thiourea, the treated weevils showed a significant decrease in protein content, from 52.375 percent to 26.250 percent. At 0.5 percent and 1.0 percent concentration, thiourea caused a significant decrease in the total content of lipid. The normal insect contained 29.15% lipid, two times more lipid than those treated with 1.0 percent thiourea (14.4%).
