In addition to the path from research to application that is underscored by the theme of this ASIS meeting, information systems and services are also affected by events that occur after initial development of the application. Even the best application will fail if it is not made available to appropriate user groups and supported by training and documentation. For continued acceptance, applications must be further developed and improved, based on user feedback. The general focus of this session is on the path between application and use in the area of medical information systems. This topic will be explored from several perspectives, i.e., for different types of information systems, with a look at both public and private sector contributions.
