Experience demonstrates that development of new prototypes of faceted heliostat should be parallel to canting methods development (focusing). The reasons are of different nature, but essentially derive from a general tendency to increase the heliostat reflecting area, which has made that traditional canting methods developed in the '80s for small heliostats must be reconsidered when scaling the number of units, sizes and number of facets to a lot bigger ones, such as those expected for th future large solar power tower plants.
