Starting from the definition of residual property, the method of residual property for calculating of thermodynamic properties of actual gases from the equation of state is discussed in detail with the aid of statistical thermodynamics and classical thermodynamics, respectively. It is hopeful to establish a convenient way to calculate thermodynamic properties of actual gases.
