Changes in seagrass coverage over a total area of 2,000 ha on Success and Parmelia Banks, Western Australia that occurred between 1965 and 1995 were mapped using aerial photography. Photography from 1965, 1972 , 1982 and 1995 was used to determine the temporal and spatial change in seagress distribution. Aerial photography was rectified using photogrammetric techniques, and manually interpreted to determine the extent of seagrasse and unvegetated sands. The 1995 image was also ground-truthed to determine the seagrass species assemblages present.
