Interleukin-2 (IL-2), as a biologic response modifier, is used in the treatment of several diseases, including tumours, immunodeficiency and infection. But a serious problem with the use of IL-2 is that it has short biological half-life and it is necessary to administer frequent injections of high dose of IL-2, however this approach has been limited by toxicity of this protein. Therefore several controlled release systems have been developed for IL-2~1-3. Some of these systems delivered IL-2 for a short time or released the protein in a vary small amount.
