Parallel algorithms for miscible displacement in porous media are studied. The proposed methodology combines dual macro-hybrid formulations via nonoverlapping domain decompositions, and mixed variational formulations. In this manner, finite element approximations are naturally introduced, on the basis of non-matching grids. Further, numerical resolvent or proximation methods for generating penalty-duality resolution schemes are produced, which turn out to be generalizations of augmented Lagrangian and Uzawa numerical methods, corresponding to versions of Euler, Douglas-Rachford and Peaceman-Rachford time marching schemes.
