Ice thermal storage system is being widely used in Japan in order to realize electricity peak demand shift for energy conservation and for reducing CO2 emission by the use of nighttime generated electricity with the advantage of less volumetric capacity in comparison with water storage. To design optimal ice storage system to best meet a given pattern of an air-conditioning load it is necessary first to have mathematical model of ice formation/melting and second to prepare types for dynamic simulation and then to simulate as an ice storage cooling system. Authors briefly introduce mathematical model and experimental verification first, and then create a new type dynamic simulation using HVACSIM+(J) and simulation results.
