This paper presents a modem design to implement the HF wide-band data transmission based on the Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplex (OFDM). In order to reduce the multi-path fading effect on short wave channel, the design adopted OFDM, Inband frequency diversity, and Turbo code technologies. On condition that the intensive co-channel interference is suppressed, the modem can realize the data transmission at data rate of 8kb/s,16kb/s and 32kb/s on a 125kHz -bandwidth HF channel. The performances of this modem in a typical HF channel are also given by digital emulation.
