The paper presents the proposal for evaluation of noise penetrating into dwellings from appliances installed inside or outside of building such as fans, air-conditioners, pumps, transformers, refrigerator units, etc. Basing on: measurement data of annoyance noise in dwellings, epidemiological investigations of the influence of noise on the health of exposed inhabitants, laboratory tests of thresholds of narrow and broad - band noise perception, the new assessment method was proposed. In order to assess the noise spectra measured in dwellings, the characteristics as the rating curve has been accepted. Its L levels are determined by relation: LA10 = 10 - kA - for 1/3-octave bands or LA15 = 15 - kA - for octave bands Noise occurs as annoying when: the sound pressure levels of noise exceeds the levels of above curves and exceeds the background noise.
