A new method for transport properties identification was developed and applied for wood. The method is based on the inverse problem approach, optimization techniques and the adequate mathematical model corresponding to direct problems of heat transport. A suitable parallel computing software package was developed for solving transient, three-dimensional, anisotropic, quasi-linear, inverse and direct problems. The approach was applied to identify thermal conductivity simultaneously in the three principal anatomic directions of Scots pine wood. The mathematical model of direct and inverse problems was validated. The obtained results let to improve accuracy of predictions.
