Focusing on the possibility of exploring the saturated unitary fatty alcohols as thermal energy storage PCMs, 1-decanol and 1-octadecanol are investigated in the thermodynamic properties. At the basis of the self-created methods about freezing point and super-cooling, the two parameters from 1-decanol are 6.79°C and 0.2°C, and those of 1-octadecanol are 57.12°C and 0.01°C. Also with the investigation on their fusion heat, we got the results of 238.84J/g and 242.85J/g, respectively. What's more, the deviations of the freezing point and the fusion heat from 1-decanol are 1.78% and 0.21% through 100 cooling and heating cycles. The above results manifest that 1-decanol and 1-octadecanol can be made into phase change materials, in the favor of their large transition heat, slight supercooling and good thermal stability.
