摘要

An orthogonal cutting force model for the micro-machining process is proposed. The model is based on slip-line field theory and accounts for the effects of the minimum chip thickness, the effective rake angle, the dead metal zone, and the depth of deformation. The model describes the micro-machining process by two material flow processes: the chip formation process and the ploughing process. The ploughing process is represented as a plastic deformation process of the metal flow moving beneath the tool. An experimental validation of the model was performed and it was shown that a good agreement exists between the experimental and the simulation results for micro-turning.
