According as the analysis of the position observing material and model experiment, the reversibility of the river channel of the YR lower reach is analyzed and reasoned. It proves that the response relation of the sediment hydraulic transportation such as flow velocity of the main channel, hydraulic radius, bed roughness, sediment - carrying capacity, etc. in the course of channel shrinking is in accordance with the response relation of them in usual course of riverbed evolvement; the riverbed evolvement still has the feature of "more sediment inflow, more sediment flushing, more sediment depositing" ; the channel shrinking of the YR lower reach is reversible. The result of the study further offered a theoretical foundation for the practice of water and sediment regulation.
