摘要

A new ribbon separation tool with the ability to separate any combination of fibers in a ribbon has been developed. The compact and ergonomic tool aids splicing and other fiber handling activities involving most commonly deployed ribbons containing up to 12 fibers. The innovative pistol-grip design allows for operation with one hand, assisting with the ribbon loading process and helping to minimize the possibility of error or damage during the separation process. The design allows for easy operation in aerial environments or other remote locations or applications where a work surface may not be available.
