Silane cross-linkable halogen free flame retardant polyolefin compounds have been prepared by using our novel formulations that have better productivity and oil resistance. For these compounds, surface treated special halogen free flame retardants were used and three types of base resin were blended. Through the analyses on behavior of compound and extrusion, it has been revealed that the properties of extrusion of silane cross-linkable flame retardant material could be effectively enhanced by incorporation of special inorganic fillers and additives. The aim of this work is to study the behavior of flame redundancy and smoke evolution of the newly developed silane cross-linked flame retardant material filled with various combinations of inorganic fillers. The optimum temperature condition for silane grafting reaction of EVAs has been selected. The physical properties (tensile property, oil resistance and gel content) of the silane cross linked compounds were reported and their combustion characteristics have been studied by using the Cone Calorimeter and compared with peroxide cross-linked compounds.
