Synchronal trigger is one of the most important factors which affect the launching efficiency of multistage coil launcher. As the speeding up of armature, the time of accelerating in driving coil will be reduced, thus, it may affect the launching efficiency when the trigger position is not suitable. It analyzed the factors which may affect the armature velocity increment based on momentum theorem. Then it verified the results of theoretical analysis by simulation. From the results of finite element method simulation, it can draw the conclusion that every stage of driving coils has different optimal trigger position which is brought forward as the velocity of armature increased. By the interpolation of simulation data, it gets the optimal trigger position for different armature initial velocity. And then it put forward the trigger strategy based on the integration of velocity measurement and time delay, which can let the coil launcher trigger at optimal position for random armature velocity. After all, it solves the problem of synchronal trigger for multistage coil launcher at low and medium velocity.
