In the last five years, the use of titanium alloys for exhaust systems manufacturing in automotive industry has increased significantly. Due to this reason, also the variety of heat resistant alloys available on the market is raised considerably. In order to better evaluate the characteristics of this wide range of products, Akrapovic d.d. developed a classification method which can be used to check incoming materials and compare properties between different alloys. Because of the strongly anisotropic behavior of titanium, to obtain a comprehensive overview of the plastic performance, a testing approach based on biaxial tensile trials has been used.
