Phase-corrected FT-ICR data produces an absorption-mode spectrum with mass resolving power as much as a factor of 2 higher than conventional magnitude-mode display. We previously described procedures [1,2] for broadband phase correction of complex FT-ICR mass spectra that produce pure absorption-mode line shapes, but fully automated and optimized absorption-mode spectral display has not been demonstrated. Here, we apply a new automated phase correction method to produce absorption-mode spectra with significantly better resolving power and mass accuracy than traditional magnitude-mode spectra for the same time-domain data.
