Post-surgical pain .increases morbidity and slows healing, particularly if narcotics are employed for pain management. Therefore the surgeon is continually looking for other means to. analgesia. We reported at BioEM2009 that a PEMF signal configured to attenuate inflammation through a CaM/NO/cGMP-dependent signaling pathway substantially reduced post-operative pain in a double-blind study on breast reduction patients. Here we report results from this continuing study with new data from additional patients and molecular analyses-of .wound exudates to determine whether post-operative. pain relief from this non-thermal radio frequency PEMF signal is associated with differences' in levels of cytokines and angiogenic factors in the wound bed.
