摘要

This paper is an introduction to the new DOE Office of Solar Energy Technologies (OSET). The OSET combines the Phovoltaics (PV), Concentrating Solar Power (CSP), and Solar Buildings programs into a single office. This new organization creates opportunities for efficiencies and joint efforts that benefit all three research programs. Most important, it creates a single focus within DOE for the solar energy industry, university researchers and the interested public to work with the Department of Energy to advance solar energy. This paper will discuss the DOE OSET programs for FY 2000 and expectations for FY 2001 based on our budget request. Finally, it will discuss how we expect a well-managed, coherent program guided by a strong vision, solid research plans and stakeholder involvement to be more effective in winning support for our programs and the solar industry.
