In this paper we present a coherent image processor, which uses the loop-like nonlinear diffraction property of the Ce:KNSBN photorefractive crystal to achieve real-time edge-enhanced optical correlation and optical pattern recognition. The Full-Width-at-Half-Maximum (FWHM) of the auto-correlation peak is decreased four times by the edge-enhancement operation. The intensity ratio between auto-correlation peak and the cross-correlation peak is improved nearly two times. As the same time the lobe of the auto-correlation peak and the background "clutter" noise are obviously suppressed. Therefore the discrimination of this system achieves great improvement.
