Networking is necessary for successful specialty chemical research, process development, and manufacturing. We will elaborate on our experiences with two worldwide networks at Rohm and Haas: the Analytical and Computational Competency Network and the Process Development Network. These networks have positively influenced the bottom-line by connecting a motivated and competent workforce, sharing knowledge, and leveraging skills. Networking speeds implementation of innovation in manufacturing. In this light, formal networking can be seen as a truly virtuous occupation and not a transient virtual initiative.
