Many photonics component manufactures are struggling to lower the costs of pump- and source-laser module assembly through automation. Even contract manufacturing companies with decades of electronics manufacturing experience are learning the "new rules" of diode assembly. A few pages from the rulebook- specific to automated vision and precision placement- are discussed here.
