摘要

Regarding the renewable energy issue in Yemen, geothermal energy resources are the best alternative source of the energy to overcome the critical needs of the energy in such Yemen country. According to the recent statistics studies, more than 65% of the Yemenis societies could not have their need of electricity. The demand for electricity in the country is increasing continuously. The government and private electricity production are much lower than the daily demand for the electricity which they initially depend on the high cost diesel. The Investment on the renewable energy in such Yemen country is highly recommended and worthy due to the plenty of the natural thermal resources. This study deals with the electricity production from geothermal sources. Geothermal energy is now one of the promising alternative energy sources, which is considered a reliable, clean, and environmentally safe. Many geothermal resources in the western region of Yemen are applicable to produce clear and sufficient electricity such as Al-Lisi and Isbil, Al-Kafr and Damt fields. More than 100 thermal springs and gas hot spots have been mapped recently. A huge amount of the electricity can be produced from these important geothermal resources in Yemen. Eventually, the social, economic and environmental impacts of this type of energy were also discussed.
