Recently, it becomes more important to reduce airborne microbes and nasty smell from the viewpoint of indoor air quality. In this study, we developed an air cleaning and sterilization system with oblique honeycomb by using chlorine dioxide (ClO_2). The increase of the amount of humidifying and condensation by oblique honeycomb washer promoted the removal efficiency of airborne microbes. It was considered that the microbes which were trapped in the washing water were sterilized by chlorine dioxide in the liquid phase. Further, it was suggested that chlorine dioxide could decompose some compounds, such as trimethylamine, which were soluble in the liquid phase.
