Direct Metal Fabrication (DMF) is a rapid prototyping technique for producing near net shape, high density metallic components from CAD data using blended powders. Mechanical properties permit use of DMF parts in testing and certain structural applications beyond "form and fit". CAD to final part possible in ～ 3 days Complex geometries are possible. Scale-up to larger parts ( > ～ 3500 cm~3) is difficult. Binder advancements permit the use of standard MIM furnace cycles.
