Wireless sensor networks will consist of large numbers of distributed nodes that organize themselves into a multihop wireless network. Energy consumption in sensor nodes that are generally battery-operated is very important, while a major energy consumer is radio communication. This paper proposes Wave Transmission, a new protocol designed for wireless sensor networks. The objective of wave transmission is to maximize the network lifetime that all nodes achieve the energy balance, while without increasing delay and reducing throughput. Wave transmission constitutes the virtual wave lines that induce the wave-to-wave networking. Wave transmission has three network phases; network initialization, query wave and data wave. Also, it has four main techniques; wave transmission, aggressive data aggregation, proactive data path reservation and predictable active-sleep period. Through simulation and comparison of wave transmission of with other traditional schemes, wave transmission outperforms traditional protocols.
