摘要

Reverse path forwarding (RPF) is an efficient algorithm used for distributing messages throughout the network. However, the main disadvantage of this approach is the generation of duplicate packets. In this paper we propose an algorithm to define a new way of broadcasting which is a modification to the classical reverse path forwarding. The proposed modified reverse path forwarding (MRPF) retains all the advantages of the RPF method while it has the important additional advantage of efficient utilization of bandwidth by reducing the number of duplicate packets generated.
