Service oriented extensible modeling and simulation supporting environment architecture (SO-XMSSEA) which is presented based on XMSF thinking and the new development of web services and grid technology is an application pattern of service oriented architecture (SOA) in simulation domain. It resolved the limitations of legacy simulation supporting platform and the problems to fulfill the requirements of large-scale and distributed complex simulation system. The simulation services bus (SSB) in SO-XMSSEA implements the RTI interfaces, supports the interaction between federates over WAN. Simulation applications belonging to different organizations are integrated based on web services in the mode of loose coupling. Consequently this makes simulation modules more reusable and avoids bad reusability caused by programming language and Operating System dependence. Grid technology is used to make it easy for simulation resources organization and to improve fault tolerance capability and security mechanism.
