It is necessary to assess effectively and exactly the performance of mobile communication systems as well as corresponding techniques and algorithms. Among methods, computer-aided or programming-assistant simulation is widely accepted and used. In the paper several basic assessment methodologies for mobile network are reviewed and compared firstly, and then by a two-step approach integrated link level and system level simulation and taking time division duplex (TDD) high speed downlink packet access (HSDPA) under a multiple cell scenario as an example, the modelling and simulating are investigated. Some issues and the result analyses in cellular simulation are discussed. At the end of this paper, a conclusion is served.
